Salary Steps

Many of you have asked for an explanation as to whether or not you are placed at the correct salary step. There was both a restructuring of steps, and a salary freeze within the past 5 years, which have affected the step number that is shown on each teacher contract. In an effort to clarify, we are providing some examples to refer to.

Example 1:
Teacher "A" was hired in 2001, and has 13 years experience with the district. This teacher would be at step 11 in 2013-14
2001-02 = step 1
2002-03 = step 2
2003-04 = step 3
2004-05 = step 4
2005-06 = step 5
2006-07 = step 6
2007-08 = step 7
2008-09 = step 8
2009-10 = step 8 (Steps were restructured, step pay increase was given)
2010-11 = step 9
2011-12 = step 9 (Steps were Frozen)
2012-13 = step 10 (Step pay increase implemented in March)
2013-14 = step 11 (Step pay increase implemented in March)
2014-15 = step 12 ( step pay increase implemented in March)

Example 2:
Teacher "B" was hired in 2010, and has 4 years of experience with the district. This teacher will be at step 3 in 2013-14.
2010-11 = step 1
2011-12 = step 1 (Steps were Frozen)
2012-13 = step 2 (Step pay increase implemented in March)

2013-14 = step 3 (Step pay increase implemented in March)
2014-15 = step 4 ( step pay increase implemented in March)

Teachers who have reached the top of the salary schedule previous to the 2013-14 school year will receive a longevity stipend in December.
